What is it? Acupuncture is among the oldest healing practices in the world. As part of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), acupuncture aims to restore and maintain health through the stimulation of specific points on the body. Acupuncture is a method of encouraging the body to heal naturally and to improve overall health.
Can Acupuncture help me? Acupuncture is used worldwide both as a primary and complementary form of medical treatment. The most common conditions we treat include allergies, headaches, anxiety/depression, fertility, and pain anywhere in the body.
How many treatments will I need? This will depend on the condition you have. Most people will begin to see results from acupuncture in approximately 3-7 treatments. Treatments are generally 1-2 times per week until your issues improve. Follow up appointments may be appropriate to maintain your overall health.
Does acupuncture hurt? What are the needles like? Acupuncture needles are sterile, single use and very thin. People are surprised to see how thin acupuncture needles are and any hesitation about the treatment disappears after the first needle is inserted. Our technique is often painless and no more than a mild pinch when the needles are inserted. Most patients feel relaxed and comfortable and often fall asleep until their treatment is finished.
How does it work? The needles stimulate specific points in the body that activate the nervous system to release chemicals into the muscles, spinal cord, and brain. These chemicals influence the body's own internal regulating system.
The improved energy and biochemical balance produced by acupuncture results in stimulating the body's natural healing abilities, and in promoting physical and emotional well-being.
